Ms W Nicholas
My name is Ms Nicholas and I have been Headteacher at Beetham CE School since September 2004.
I love teaching at Beetham School. It is a happy and friendly place to be and I think the children are brilliant! I am very pleased with how our school has improved over the last few years. I think our playground is great and the classrooms look lovely now they have been decorated and improved. It’s also great that we have so many computers to use – everyone’s ICT skills have really improved – including mine!
When I am not at school I like to go walking and cycling with my husband and I love going on holiday. I also like gardening, reading and knitting.
Music is my most important hobby – I play the piano a lot at home and I play the bassoon in the Westmorland Orchestra. I am also learning to play the accordion and the ukulele. I am really delighted that so many children at our school learn to play a musical instrument – it is a super skill to have – even when you are a grown up!
One of my favourite times of the day at school is when we open the doors in the morning at 8.40am. Even though it’s early there are always lots of children and parents waiting to come in – they always look so happy and pleased to be here – I think that’s really special.
